Brian Paul Fruechtenicht holds an MM from the University of North Texas (’00) and a BA in Music from CSU, Chico (’97). Brian has been playing for 18 years, and has extensive experience as a professional drummer. Brian studied drums with big band great Ed Soph, and also with Count Basie drummer Harold Jones. His world music studies include Southern India, Cuba, Jamaica, Africa, and Brazil. Brian has gigged all over the San Francisco Bay Area including a performance at the Great American Music Hall. He has played in many musicals, rock bands, jazz-funk groups, jam bands, and started an organic live hip-hop band. Brian currently plays drums in the worship ministry team at church, and enjoys guiding and teaching people of all ages and all skill levels. Brian is very patient as a teacher and encourages growth from his students on a regular basis.



Teachings: Taught snare drum and marimba at the University of North Texas as a graduate student. Taught high school drum lines while in college (undergrad & graduate). Worked as a music teacher for Challenge to Learning High School in San Francisco, CA. Taught music classes to children at Creative Arts Charter School in San Francisco, CA. Teaches piano to children on a regular basis. Over the course of his career, Brian has taught some 400 music students!
